Start Time: 7:00:00 PM - End Time: 9:00:00 PM
Roger Harwood presents “20th Century Camps of Valcour Island,” a talk featuring many seldom seen images of the little known camps and community that existed during the first half of the last century. Many remember New York State purchasing properties on Valcour Island from the 1960s-80s. Fewer recall the private camps, farms, timber harvests, lighthouse complex, steamship landings, quarries, and large boys camp that previously made the island an active place. Roger Harwood has combined Valcour Island images, culled from CCHA’s photograph and glass plate negative collection, with research he has conducted on today’s landscape at the island to relocate many of the structures that have been lost over the years. The result is a more complete story of the role Valcour Island and its inhabitants have played in the history of Clinton County. For more information visit the Clinton County Historical Association website.

Once the basic strokes are developed we will focus on improving paddling skills while we journey down the AuSable River to Lake Champlain. The main focus is for every student to have a fun time learning to paddle on our beautiful waters on the Adirondack Coast! Cost $45 Minimum age 7, for more information visit the Kayak Shack website.
