9/2 Ita Bullard’s Exhibit Opening

Location: The Strand Center for the Arts, 23 Brinkerhoff Street, Plattsburgh, NY

The opening reception of Ita Bullard's Exhibit will take place Friday, September 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (free and open to the public). The Exhibit will be open from September 2-30, 2016. For information on regular gallery hours, visit strandcenter.org

When discussing her work, Bullard says, “I consider my art a gift to myself. I am humbled by the process and am forever seeking to advance my ability to evoke emotion through the painting.”

Location: Fort Ticonderoga, 30 Fort Ti Rd, Ticonderoga

Test your navigational skills among towering stalks of corn in Fort Ticonderoga’s six-acre corn maze located near the King’s Garden. Features include: Kiddie Maze, Maze by Moonlight, and Group Visitors.

The Heroic Maze is included in the Fort Ticonderoga’s general admission price and will be open on weekends only, starting September 3rd through October 9th. The Battle of Plattsburgh, also known as the Battle of Lake Champlain, ended the final invasion of the northern states during the War of 1812.  Join us as we commemorate the Bicentennial of General Alexander Macomb’s  and Master Commandant Thomas MacDonough’s defeat of the British army on September 11, 1814.  The commemoration weekend runs from September 8-11 with tours, concerts, reenactments, fireworks, entertainment, parades and much more for the whole family to enjoy! Location: Begins on Cumberland Avenue and ends at Bridge Street
Start Time: 1:00:00 PM - End Time: 2:30:00 PM

The Battle of Plattsburgh Parade is Saturday, 9/10 at 1p.m. beginning on Cumberland Avenue and ending at Bridge Street! With over 80 participants, the Battle of Plattsburgh Parade will feature musical groups including: Her Majesty’s Royal Marine band, The Police Pipes and Drums of Plattsburgh, Quigley Highlander Pipes and Drums, the Cobourg Pipes and Drums, the Strawhatters, and The Sailing Master’s of 1812.

9/11 Race to the Eagle: A Vertical Race Inside the Macdonough Monument!

Location: Macdonough Monument, 42 City Hall Place, Plattsburgh
Start Time: 9:00:00 AM - End Time: 4:00:00 PM CCHA is parnering with the Champlain Valley Search and Rescue K9 Unit to host a vertical race up the steps inside the Macdonough Monument during the Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration! Entry fee is $10 per person. Each racer will receive a button and the overall winner will receive a cash prize of $200.
