Champlain Centre is proud to present the “Dance Into Spring Fashion Show.” This exciting event will feature the latest in our fun, fresh spring and prom fashions. The New York State Maple Producers Association presents the 10th Annual Maple Weekend at Parker's Family Maple Farm. They will be boiling sap into maple syrup and many will demonstrate maple sugar making. Of course, visitors can sample and purchase the maple products. Many of the U.S. alpine stars competing in the XXI Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada will be racing in Lake Placid when the U.S Alpine Ski Championships are held at Whiteface Mountain. The country’s best alpine skiers return to Whiteface in their quest for national championship titles. Some of the United States’ top skiers are expected to compete including Steven Nyman, Ted Ligety, Julia Mansuso, and Lindsay Vonn. 3/27 Taste of the Tavern Fundraiser-Battle of Plattsburgh
The Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration Committee will host its third annual Taste of the Tavern dinner. American and British foods authentic to the 1812 period are featured and include Mixed Grill, Stuffed Pork Roast, Bubble & Squeak, Seafood Cottage Pie, and much more. As in the past there will be a cash bar and six serving stations to insure prompt service. Entertainment is by the ever popular Towne Meeting. Israel Green, himself, will be there to welcome you to this fun event and of course there will be comely wenches. Dressing in period clothing is welcome but not required. $15 per person. 3/27 Winter Wildays * The Timber Rattlesnake, A Native Wildlife Species of the Adirondacks
Bill Brown and Jon Furman will give an in-depth talk on the natural history of the eastern timber rattlesnake and local populations based on Brown's 32-year year field study of these snakes in the Adirondacks. Joe Furman will sign his book Timber Rattlesnakes in Vermont and New York following the talk.
