1/25 Lake Placid Loppet: 50km & 25km races

Location: Olympic Sports Complex, 220 Bobsled Run Rd, Lake Placid, NY 12946

The Loppet and Kort-Loppet are slightly modified versions of the 50km course constructed for the 1980 Winter Olympics -- perfect for recreational and expert skiers looking for a unique challenge! Loppet entry fee includes Lake Placid Loppet Cocktail party from 4:00 - 9:00 pm Friday, February 24th at the Lake Placid Conference Center, and the Loppet Dinner (free for Loppet registrants) from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday, February 25th at the Lake Placid Conference Center. 1/28 Real Live Hip Hop: Miles / Plattsburgh Home Team

Location: Monopole Bar, 7 Protection Ave, Plattsburgh
Start Time: 9:00:00 PM - End Time: 11:30:00 PM Check out MILES and The Plattsburgh Home Team, two awesome hip-hop acts. Backed by live instruments, these emcees will take over the Monopole Bar in downtown Plattsburgh on January 28 from 9:00 p.m. until close. No cover charge!

1/28 Adirondack Wind Ensemble

Location: Lake Placid Center for the Arts, 17 Algonquin Dr, Lake Placid, NY 12946
Start Time: 4:00:00 PM - End Time: 6:00:00 PM

The Adirondack Wind Ensemble (AWE) presents a staged version of Igor Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale based on an old Russian folk tale in which a soldier trades his violin to the devil in exchange for a magical book that will bring him untold riches. Production includes narration by Roger Andrews, retired member of the Metropolitan Opera Chorus; and choreography by Antonette Knoedl, a popular theater and dance performer in this region. Daniel Gordon, AWE Music Director, conducts. They will be assisted by a chamber ensemble of AWE musicians and actors/dancers Andrew Ducharme and John Mashtare. Tickets are $10 general admission at the door; free admission for all students. Purchase tickets online here.


1/28 Discover Plattsburgh Event Series: 2nd Annual South Side Sled & Skate -- at night!

Location: South Platt Park, Plattsburgh, NY 12901
Start Time: 5:00:00 PM - End Time: 8:00:00 PM FREE and open to the public, this fun event in downtown Plattsurgh encourages kids of all ages to join in nighttime sledding and skating at South Platt Street Park! Throughout the evening, families will take part in live music, good food and winter fun. First 100 sttendees will receive a FREE Discover Plattsburgh glow bracelet!
