In the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, Tupper Lake, NY provides one of the best destinations for stargazing in the East. The combination of low-light pollution, low humidity and high altitude provide nearly ideal conditions for night sky viewing. It is here where the Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory has been laying its roots into the dark side of a hill on Big Wolf Road.
Currently, the Sky Center hosts stargazing on clear nights year round and offers many educational opportunities for the entire family, but their plans for the future are out of this world...literally. Lectures, Seminars & Events: Every year the Adirondack Sky Center hosts 4-6 lectures by professional astronomers, fun and hands-on classes, maker space activities, an annual Astro-photography Workshop and so much more!
Star Gazing: On clear Fridays in the summer and twice a month during the winter, they offer guided star-gazing at the Observatory. Private star parties are also available.
Membership Opportunities: Members are vital to the Sky Center’s work, so join them to receive special benefits and opportunities.
Historic Astronomical Items: The Adirondack Sky Center maintains the historic Everest Telescope among other items.
