Lantern Tours At Ausable Chasm

Discover the beauty of Ausable Chasm at night.

When dusk falls, we supply lanterns while our guides lead your group into the chasm.  We enter at the rim and then descend into the deep dark canyon 150 feet below, walking along the legendary Ausable River and its rushing waters. Exploring the dark shadows of the chasm walls is an awe-inspiring sight. The tour concludes with a community campfire and marshmallow roast. (Until Labor Day, dependent on river level and weather)

• Lanterns are provided, but feel free to bring your own (battery powered lanterns only). No flashlights please.
• Plan to walk two miles with many stairs throughout the tour.
• Water or other refreshing beverages are strongly recommended.  Absolutely no alcohol allowed.
• Tour duration lasts 2 hours, starting at dusk. Tour start times may vary throughout the season. Please observe or ask for the start time when making your reservation.
• Age Restrictions – Due to the late hours of Lantern Tours, children under the age of 10 may not accompany us on the tour. Exceptions may be made for private Lantern Tours.

$30 per guest. Credit card required for reservations

Tours depart at dusk from our Gatehouse Entrance located on the south side of the Route 9 bridge (opposite side of the river from the Welcome Center).  There is ample parking available on both sides of Route 9.
